There are few things more gratifying for a musician than hearing a crowd singing along with you. Now multiply that by 700, and add an amazing week with friends in the UK. It was fantastic. One of, probably THE, best crowd and most enjoyable show to date. I have no recollection of set list, order, or anything I may have said between songs, (save the sharing the microphone comment, which apparently was pretty funny,
but I can say I remember very specifically how amazing everyone was. The entire week was great. We arrived in London on Wednesday, and I must say it is an awe-inspiring city. I was constantly reminded of Eddy Izzard's joke, "I'm from Europe, you know, where History comes from..." funny but true. "old" takes on a completely different meaning in Europe. It did rain most of the week, but being from sunny SoCal, it was a nice change of pace. I felt fittingly pensive most of the week. We were pretty busy, but next time, I definitely want to save a couple hours to sit in Hyde park with my journal and see what comes out. I was definitely inspired, but I also didn't have time to take my guitar out the whole week, except for sound check and the show! ok, back to the show... what can I say? It was one of those shows where when I finished I wanted to start over and do it again. I'd say one of the highlights was a cover song. "your eyes" was a pretty fun song, because I stopped in the middle, taught everyone their "part" and sang the chorus again, along with hundreds of back up singers... They sounded pretty darn good too! My own worst critic, of course I have to say, It wasn't a vocally perfect show, but I was happy with it. I felt surprisingly comfortable, I think having played about 19 or 20 shows already this year really helped. I was able to relax and just play, not having to worry about the guitar or the words, I was just hanging out and playing some songs with friends. speaking of which, it's kinda funny, I knew people would be waiting to see Jensen sing as well, so I spoke to him about it earlier in the week, and he just said "we'll see." which I understood totally, it's tough to just jump infront of 700 people! when he got there before the show he gave me the negative, he was super tired, still a bit jet-lagged, etc, which, again, was fine with me, he had been working all day, I only had to work for the next hour. When I started "Crazy Love" I was trying to explain why he WASN'T going to sing, but it didn't work. lol. everyone just started clapping and screaming for him, so I looked over like, "sorry about that bud." but he came up and did his thing, and sounded great. ( i know ya'll couldn't hear him that well, but he was right in my ear and he was spot on.) so it was definitely nice of him to get up for everyone, and I'm glad he did. I'm also glad everyone had a good time, and I would really like to make it back to the UK sometime! maybe we'll make it a mini European tour next time! To all my new friends across the pond, Thank you for your excitement and hospitality. I really enjoyed meeting all of you and look forward to playing for you again.

I was at the convention and i thought you were great!! I bought your album and i gotta say its pretty damn good!! I had my pic took with you and got my album signed and i hope you come back to the next asylum convention in may 2008, we would love to have you come back to the uk and sing for us.I have spoke to a few people and we would love for you to do a mini tour over here too, believe me it would be a sell out tour.Well keep up the good work and enjoy your shows in the usa and i hope they all love you as much as we did. THANK YOU for coming over and performing for us! Your show was simply amazing! I think another pretty funny moment was when you were commenting on us clapping (and we thought you meant clapping after each song) and then you abruptly stopped at the beginning of "Visions."

. What a great time everyone had - and I only got to be part of it vicariously through another friend (Chevy, one of ur first posters here) who went. I'm so jealous. But I'll get over it.I wondered who the heck this "Jason" is that everybody "just LOVED" from the convention. I thought you were with the show in some way. The video tape someone shot of u and Jensen singing "Crazy Love" was pretty far away so I couldn't see your face, but the sound was good and I loved your voice and guitar playing. I thought you were a damn good singer for a stage crew hand or writer. Hmmm, he should be singing in clubs, I thought. ( I'm a genius u know ) I so love people who can kick back and do acoustic with each other. It sounded beautiful. I miss the day when I could do it with my friends any night of the week.
Now one my friends put you in her profile and I immediately had to click on it to see who you are. Got to hear another of your songs and hear your lovely voice again. Glad to meet you ! We're from the same area, though I only remember only ending up in Bowling Green when taking the wrong exit off the beltway lol . I'm thinking it's where Andrews AF base is ? I went to William and Mary too, but only for a summer session. I'm a DC native, south of the city now. I'm glad you stepped out and took the chance that got you to where you are. I'm amazed at how many locals have suceeded in LA over the years . Who'd a thunk it eh ?
I admire your courage and we are blessed by your talent. I hope to catch you when you're in a club downtown again. I don't do the clubbing thing anymore, but I'd make an exception for you.

we got the tickets to the convention. Finally some fun!!

Dude!! You guys rocked!! It was so funny when you said Jensen wasn't gona sing because there was only the one microphone, so we started chanting "Share!!" It was a great show and it would be brilliant to hear you perform again, but this time with better sound quality!! Lol! But even so, it was a fantastic performance!! I couldn't buy your album at the event, but I have ordered one fromm www.cdbaby.com, and I can't wait for it to arrive so I can listen to it and chil on the way to work!! Keep up the good work!!

Loved reading your blogg and hearing that you had a good time here in the UK. I checked out your music before going to Asylum and was looking forward to hearing you play live, I wasn't disappionted and really enjoyed hearing you Saturday night.
Poor Jensen couldn't even have his friend let him relax!!! But for the fans that made the weekend even more special. It's no good explaining to rabid fans that Jensen's too tired to sing, one mention of the song and no-one was going to give you or him any peace until he got up and joined you. It would have been better to say nothing because not everyone realised he was sat there, now they are always going to expect him to be there if you're both at Asylum.
You said you want to come back, well there's already people asking that Wayne book you for next year and I'm in full agreement with that. I would love to here you live again, although you're now on my laptop.
Love your thoughts on Eddy Izzard's comments about Europe is where history comes from (quite true but). Now you've been friended by people over here you can always ask them for tourist information when you come back, but just remember London isn't England anymore than New York is the USA. Sorry you had to get back without seeing more of the country. I would say dump Jensen and take a tour after the show, but that's only because like this time he'll probably have to go straight back like this time.
Got to go 3rd showing this week of Supernatural is just starting!!!

I wasn't there, being stuck in Australia, but I've listened to my friends' accounts all week, and watched the videos they took and not only am I happy that everyone had a great time, and *loved your music* (as I have for *ages* and wish you, and Steve Carlson, and Kane, and Jason Mraz, and all these other cool artists could make the trip Down Under!) . Jensen was amazingly indulgent of his fans this weekend, and for that I hope he knows just how much he's made everyone love him just that little bit more for just being who he is.

Aww now I feel guilty for cheering for Jensen to get up so much poor boy! He didnt stand a chance against us lot, hehe. If you get a chance can you pass on to him how much we genuinly appreciated it - more so now for me knowing he really didnt want to with being so tired.
As for your solo performance - you blew me away! I'm used to watching my favourite groups at big arena gigs and your style isnt my usual taste but I think I'm converting! Seeing you perform like that - adding your own style to already well known songs, it was magical!
I tried to say hi afterwards while you were over by the bar but Wayne was kinda draggin you off and you were already swamped with fans and I didnt get a chance to say hi after that... just out of interest did you see 2 crazy girls waving off your taxi on the Sunday? Me and Emma went outside and caught you, Jensen and your girls getting in the taxi so we waved when you went past, not sure if you saw us but hey ho.
PLEASE say you're coming back for Asylum 2?? We've already booked our tickets and it may be a Supernatural convention but it wouldnt be the same without you after this weekend and I know I'm not the only one who would love to have you back!

But hey.... then it started to rain about. You should so come again. I didn't knwo most of the music you were playing. But it was good. I went to the uk from ireland for the covention and i was at ur gig on the sat night and you where brill !! im soo getting you cd!! im so glad that u enjoyed yourself and are considering coming back to europe..and if you do i will be in the front row! apart from the great music you came across a really cool down to earth guy.
There seems to be a great buzz in the sn fandom about ur music im delighted that such a great show and introduced us to a great musician aswell.

It's so good to hear you enjoyed playing for us almost as much as we enjoyed having you there to do so. I've been listening to the CD for some time now, and hearing you perform the songs live was a real thrill - and throwing in an an 'Outfield' cover as well just made it even more perfect!
I'm glad our singing didn't put you off too much; alas, I have no pitch, but it didn't stop me attempting to sing along.
Having read your account of how Jensen ended up on stage, I feel somewhat guilty - he worked so hard to indulge us all weekend as it was, but doing that as well was seriously above and beyond.
Thank you again for coming all this way to play for us, and then for taking the time to talk to us and sign CDs. That was so very kind of you, and more than I had hoped for. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to the UK, and I hope we'll see you back again before too much longer.

BUT SO DO YOU! Saturday night was awesome and I don't know if you've seen, but over at the official Asylum boards we're campaigning to get you back next year. You'll come right?
I said this at your signing table (though, you met so many of us I dunno if you'll remember) but we don't normally get so much rain in May! But rain is an awesome soother, like you said, and I can imagine that you could write such deep thoughts and lyrics when its raining. Can you imagine? In a room, just you and the rain outside. The kind of rain we had on Sunday, it would provide like, I dunno, a form of isolation from the world.
Wow, I'm ramble-y. Sorry!
PS. If you can, can you somehow in someway let me know if you all got mine and Cassie's note at the end of the day? You know the one I mean! (And we apologise for that *facepalm* LOL)

I've had the album on repeat since I got home, and I'm singing along to it (probably way off key but there's no-one else around to tell me lol). As for London, living here kinda takes the gloss off things, but yeah, it's an awesome place to be and I do hope you'll come back again soon.
