OMG ANON HOLD THE FUCK UP WHO TOLD YOU JARED IS A JERK. DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE CAMERA PUSHING THING, IMMA HURT SOMEONE

Out of all of cast members I met at Chicon, Jared was probably the sweetest. The first thing I said to him… okay I basically screamed the mother-eff word. My friend Nel was right in front of me for the autograph line, and the two of us as well as two of our other friends all got anti-posession tattoos at the con. She was showing hers to Jared, so I showed mine off too, and Jared was super genuinely interested in them, so he asks us, “Oh wow! How did that go, did it hurt?”

Now, I got my tattoo on my spine, and though I did a good show while I was getting it of not seeming like I was in much pain, it was really damn painful. So I blurt out super loudly “IT HURT LIKE A MOTHER FUCKER.” It even echoed a little bit. It was really loud, and here I am this dainty little girl in a pearl snap shirt with ruffles. Even his body guards stared at me a little. Realizing what has just come out of my mouth, I clap my hand over it and then say “Oh shi- Oh, I’m so sorry.”

And how does Jared Padalecki react to this? Okay, well have you see the video of the panel where the little girl says her favourite animal is a vampire bat? And Jared reacts like this?



Well first I got that face, then he just starts laughing his ass off, and let me tell you, the man has an infectious laugh. He takes the painting from me that I was having everyone sign, and he asks me what it is. I explain that it’s unfinished and that I’m auctioning it for charity when it’s done, and the whole time I’m explaining, he’s just looking at it super up close and looking over all the little details and grinning, saying stuff like “Oh wow, this is so cool. I can’t wait to see it finished!”

When he handed it back to me, he looked me right in the eye as I thanked him, then his eyes crinkled up as he smiled, looked square at me and said “Cheers, babe,” with a really strong San Antonio accent which made me want to die on the spot from amazing-ness overload.

So don’t let anyone tell you that Jared is a douche-a-canoe. Because he doesn’t have to be that nice to his fans. Literally more than half the members of the cast at the con were dead on their feet. Jim of course had his flight debacle, Misha has a newborn and had also been on a long flight, Rob took a red-eye, DJ Qualls told us he was operating on about 3 hours sleep. Jared was no exception, he has a baby, he’s been working hard filming, he’d been thrown up on earlier that day, he even had a long flight back to Vancouver and then a 6:4-something call time to look forward to, and he was so animated and so incredibly nice to each one of us in that autograph line. He didn’t have to be.

As for if him and Jensen, if they seem like they’re actually friends?

I only saw them together at their panel, but considering that Jensen casually referred to himself as Thomas’s uncle, and told him that he loved him in pretty much the same breath?

Yeah, I’d say they’re tight.

Question: "What is a Bible church?"


Answer:
Bible churches are those which profess to adhere to the Bible as their standard of faith and practice. However, they are of no particular Christian denomination (non-denominational), so there is no formal prescribed belief system to govern them. Any church in any denomination, as well as any non-denominational church, can use the words “Bible Church” in their name, and therefore, each one would need to be examined for their particular beliefs and practices. Some Bible churches originate from denominational pastors or groups who find themselves differing from the traditions within their denomination, and therefore, Bible churches may closely resemble the denomination they came from (with slight differences in emphasis and tradition).


There seems to be a common theme among many of the non-denominational Bible churches which stems from the fact that they emphasize Bible teaching. Bible churches usually believe that God is One and that He has a triune nature of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They believe and preach the God-ordained Lordship of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Bible churches usually believe the core Christian foundation doctrines of salvation by faith in Christ alone, redemption through the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ, the renewing of the mind by the Word of God, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Bible churches tend to emphasize Christian service, discipleship, and fellowship as necessary for a believer’s spiritual maturity. They believe in the coming return of Jesus Christ, the Day of Judgment, the thousand-year reign of Christ, eternal life for those who believe, and eternal hell for those who do not. Bible churches usually practice the common Christian ordinances of baptism in water and communion, the singing of songs and hymns, and teaching and preaching from the Bible with the purpose of life application. They are usually interested in the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ—the spreading of the gospel for the salvation of people’s souls with a heavy emphasis on making disciples. Thus, Bible churches are considered Evangelical.


Bible churches do not usually believe, or at least do not teach nor emphasize from the New Testament, the baptism in the Holy Spirit as modern Pentecostals describe it, with the patterned evidence of speaking in tongues as it happened in the book of Acts. Bible churches are not considered full gospel, Pentecostal, or charismatic; they do not believe in the gifts of the Spirit as being those of supernatural power for signs, wonders, and miracles through believers today. They do not usually emphasize divine healing and miracles or the laying on of hands for healing, believing that the biblical pattern of miracles and healings ceased, either at the completion of the biblical canon or with the death of the apostles.


Again, because each Bible church is unique, each one would need to be viewed distinctly. For anyone who is searching for a home church, here are four good principles for choosing the right one: 1) Choose a church where the Bible is taught rightly and thoroughly (2 Timothy 3:16, 17). 2) Choose a church where the people strive to love and serve one another. 3) Choose a church where the pastor is genuine and seems to love his people. 4) Seek God’s wisdom (James 1:5) and will in prayer for a church home, and choose the church of God’s leading.

Ok...so on the fan site www.jensenacklesfans.com, I was reading some questions that Jensen had answered himself. And on the old set her answered which is from when he was on Days, he said that the last thing has does before going to sleep is to say his prayers. Soo...as a Christian, I got really really REALLY excited. Because that would make him more than a 10 in my books. Anyways...does anyone know for sure if he's a Christian or something close to it? I must know! Thanks!

I don't know of any links but I've read somewhere that his favourite book is supposed to be the bible but I think that has more to do with keeping a clean image, it does however prove that he is christian to some degree.

oh come on!!1 tat is just so corny..why would u say that u're fav book is the bible...it's cute that he's religious but DUDE!! me as a baptized christian i'm not that religious so i don't go to church every sunday.. and can u imagine that he does? really!! howver maybe for him i could go to church..hear that jensen? all ya have to do ask

In a tv interview he said that he grew up in a very religious family and that sometimes his grandma frowns on some of the stuff that happens in supernatural but that to him it's just a character and not who he is so it doesn't bother him at all. I also read somewhere about him praying and all that stuff and that one of his fav books is the bible.

Well you don't exactly represent all of us. I would never go to church just for a guy. And I do go every Sunday. And I'm baptized as well. So there. Some of us are that religious, and it does matter if he's a Christian. Some people are interested in more than just a hot body and sense of humour. Thanks. :S

I did read somewhere where, in an interview,�he had described himself as a "non-denominational" Christian.� So, he does indeed profess Christianity.� That's all I can remember reading about that subject.

This proves his family are very religious.... I'm Christian and it really doesn't bother me either way whether he is or just pretending to be because whether the Bible is your favourite book or�how often you go to church�in the long run if your not square with god than none of that matters... and their are only two people�that should care�how religious Jensen is and that is him and God

I'm sorry MissingMermaid but I have a totally opposite opinion than you. I got really disappointed when I read those things about him.


It was long time ago when he was on Days and he was young and inexperienced back then. And I get the feeling that Days has a religious target audience. The show it self is a bit religious. All those factors I think influenced his answers at those questions. I'm sure he would answer them differently today.

Not meant to sound argumentative just requiring clarification on a few points

Why are you disappointed he could be religious? and Why do you think his answer would change due to target audiences?

Okay I didn't buy the bible as his favourite book either but since you want him to be intelligent (which you'll have to explain to me how believing in God makes a person unintelligent) why would you be hoping that he is some mindless drone willing to give the answers people want to hear...? I would much rather he voice an opinion and debate a point of view then just tell people what they want to hear? And yes i understand the concept of ratings and all that public opinion jazz but you can't pretend to be something you are not, eventually you get caught out and then your good name or whatever you were trying to build would be shot to hell

I absolutely LOVE how his face lights up when Danneel is mentioned. He just loves her so much, it's beautiful. These happened during the run in Austin, Tx. I don't think there was a perfect night when the show was here..
One night, Mme Giry missed her lines in Hannibal about Christine Daae being late, and she made something up.
Gary Mauer was new to the role of the Phantom, and usually missed bits and pieces here and there. One night during the final lair, Christine had just kissed him, he moves to the throne, and all of a sudden had a deer in the headlights look (I was sitting about 4 rows back and could see his face) He forgot what he was supposed to say--the line was about the Angel in Hell, and he made something up) Took all my energy not to laugh...becuase I'm sure he would have seen me.
Opening night there was trouble with the Chandelier. They held Act II for 30 minutes instead of the usual 15 minute intermission. They had to crank the Chandelier up by hand. And since this was the first night I had ever sat *underneath it* I was quite worried it may come down again...this time on me
Lots of mic problems, static, almost every performance.
Tim Martin Gleason, one night, as he took over the Phantom had two mistakes that made be hysterically giggle. First, during PONR, he forgets to wear the ring to give to Christine, so he gives it to her in the Final Lair, then he almost doesn't make it to the back of the throne in time when Meg whips off the cloak. He didn't cover himself very well, so I could see his hand trying to flip the switch to get him back in the throne in time. The greatest motivation poster ever conceived?

Millions of copies of the "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster were printed on the eve of World War II, but never displayed. Now the message has taken on a new lease of life in our troubled peacetime.

The simple five-word message is the very model of British restraint and stiff upper lip. Keep calm and carry on.

In 1939, with war against Germany looming, the Government designed three posters to steady the public's resolve and maintain morale. These featured the crown of King George VI set against a bold red background, and three distinctive slogans - "Freedom is in Peril", "Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution Will Bring Us Victory", and "Keep Calm and Carry On".

Two-and-a-half million copies of "Keep Calm" were printed, to be distributed in the event of a national catastrophe, but remained in storage throughout the war.

The message was all but forgotten until 2000, when a copy was discovered in a box of books bought at auction by Stuart Manley, a bookseller from Northumberland.

"I didn't know anything about it but I showed it to my wife. We both liked it so we decided to frame it and put it in the shop," explains Mr Manley.

"Lots of people saw it and wanted to buy it. We refused all offers but eventually we decided we should get copies made for sale."

Sales remained modest until 2005, when it was featured as a Christmas gift idea in a national newspaper supplement.

"All hell broke loose," says Mr Manley.

"Our website broke down under the strain, the phone never stopped ringing and virtually every member of staff had to be diverted into packing posters."

Soothing words

The poster was just one of hundreds produced by the Ministry of Information during the war to influence public opinion.

"The poster was a major medium in a way that it isn't now," says Professor Jim Aulich, an expert in propaganda art at Manchester Metropolitan University.

"It wasn't competing with television. It was one of the main ways of reaching people, through billboards and on public transport."

Rescued from obscurity after 70 years, the Ministry of Information's appeal for calm has risen to cult status. Mr Manley's store, Barter Books in Alnwick, receives an average of 1,000 orders a month from around the world. Customers include 10 Downing Street and assorted embassies. The design has been reproduced on T-shirts and coffee mugs, shopping bags and cufflinks.

It has also spawned imitators. One company has given it a twist, replacing the original slogan with "Now Panic and Freak Out".

To some, the world in 2009 seems as uncertain as it was in 1939, even if modern-day anxieties focus on redundancy and recession rather than bombs and the Blitz. Perhaps this is why the message still seems so relevant.

Of course, it might be difficult for the current government to come up with a poster with quite the same appeal during this time of economic stress. Context is everything, says social psychologist Dr Lesley Prince.

"If the government is in tune with you, you will listen. If you think the government is working on your behalf, you will listen."

This was indisputably the case during WWII, but is less clear-cut even in the most troubled period of peacetime.

Stiff upper lip

And a message of such powerful simplicity might not be so forthcoming these days. Today's government posters attempt to convince the public of an unappreciated danger and get them to modify their behaviour. The "Keep Calm" poster is merely an injunction to think another way and continue acting as you have always acted.

The propaganda was supposed to be rousing with a very British tone

"It's very good, almost zen," says Dr Prince. "It works as a personal mantra now. If people are thinking 'I'm about to lose the house', it's good advice."

People are drawn to the calming Britishness of the message, says Mr Manley.

"It's interesting to look at the kind of places we often sell to; doctors' surgeries, hospitals, schools and government departments. It seems to strike a chord anywhere that works at a hectic pace."

Prof Aulich adds that the message has universal appeal.

"It speaks to peoples' personal neuroses. It's not ideological, it's not urging people to fight for freedom like some propaganda posters did."

Following the end of WWII, most of the posters are believed to have been pulped, never having seen the light of day. Only two original copies are known to have survived.

Thanks to a chance discovery in a dusty box of books, the soothing entreaty is finally having its intended effect, bringing comfort to a nation in turmoil.

We Need to Talk About Kevin

In A Nutshell:  Dean is back from Purgatory. Sam is no longer hunting and seems to have a different logic: if I don't hunt, I won't be hunted. Crowley might be the new big bad.







This review has to fall into the category of  "lovefest."





Season eight has a solid take off in "We Need to Talk About Kevin." The hellatus kept me in stitches and Max and I really did our very best apocalypse dance for the war gods to usher in the new season. I'm loving the season already.





I've read enough spoilers over the hiatus thinking nothing would surprise me, but of course, I think Supernatural's new showrunner has an abundance of tricks up his sleeve.



In a homage to "Wendigo", the episode starts in the woods. There's a flash of bright light and a shadow creeps upon a young couple in a tent. The monster in the woods is a slightly confused and feral animal, it's Dean Winchester. That's how the episode begins.



Let's talk about that epic hug, not the one between Sam and Dean.  The best hug of the episode goes to Dean and Benny, it's about happiness, trust, loyalty, friendship, and brotherhood. Ty Olsson slips into his role as Benny with vigor. Benny seems slick with blood and grease; and Dean doesn't seemed fazed by any of it.



Okay, lets talk about the other hug, the neutral one. The one that had to start with Dean saying, "Let's do this."  Say what? Did Dean just have to talk himself into hugging his brother? Apparently.



It turns out that Sam has adjusted to his life without his brother. Sam seems calm, collected, and resigned to a life without hunting. He's so adjusted that he didn't look for Dean.  Sam also doesn't seem too happy that Dean is back in his life. It's too soon to judge this, because after all is said and done in "We Need to Talk About Kevin", fans get the feeling that the episode is well orchestrated. There is a dominant figure to all of this and his name is Jeremy Carver. 



Squeek. It turns out that Sam didn't look for Kevin either. But that's okay because Kevin might be smarter than both of the Winchesters combined. Kidding. I'm just happy that Osric Chau is back as Kevin Tran. Kevin is one sneaky, snarky, and extremely intelligent prophet who has escaped from Crowley all by himself, so it seems.  I heard so much about Kevin delivering the best line of the episode. It's true. Osric Chau's performance is hilarious. Chau is the breath of fresh air the show needs at this point.



It turns out that Kevin has his own stronghold in a church and he has his own weapons too. Osric Chau really holds his own against the veterans of this show. I love it.  Of course Crowley shows up with Kevin's girlfriend in tow and nothing turns out okay, despite Kevin's line to Channing about being possessed, going to her safety school, and everything going to be okay. NOT.





Towards the end of the episode Kevin sees his girlfriend killed by Crowley. Kevin's life is changed forever (if it wasn't changed forever before) and Crowley seems to be the new BIG BAD this season.

Too Much to Love:



*Dean's scenes in Purgatory. Dean looks fantastic muddied and bloodied, searching for Castiel. Yes, fans Dean was searching for Castiel in Purgatory. Dean was brutal about it too.



*The title card, it's interesting.



*I like Sam's "I'm incognito" hair.



*Benny's Louisiana drawl is something I can listen to forever. I wonder why Carver/Singer chose Louisiana. Is it tied to Dean's hunt from season 1, or is this a homage to "Interview With the Vampire?"



*Amelia, I like her. The flashback scenes with Sam bringing in an injured dog to a vet seem like a last minute replacement to however the writers wanted to introduce Amelia, but Sam has a woman in his life. The scenes seem disjointed and possibly unreal. I don't know if Sam is telling the truth here. But I like Amelia and I hope she's the type of woman who can handle monsters lurking about.



*Sam the computer hacker is back. Sam seems meticulously meditative, but his computer skills are in tact.



*Jared Padalecki is playing it very well. I have no idea where Carver is going with Sam settling down and not looking for Dean, and not helping Kevin, but I'm enjoying Jared's very well placed emotions as Sam. Sam is different and I'm sure we'll learn more about what he was doing while Dean was away in Purgatory. I'm just going to say, that I love Sam's intentional serenity. Jared knows what he's doing!



*The overall production value is well crafted. Jeremy Carver, Serge Ladouceur, and Robert Singer,  I applaud you.



*The word "PURE", both Benny and Dean say it and every time it's said, I shivered.



*"Purgatory", the name of Dean's weapon. I hope Dean keeps it in his jacket, just like the MacLeods in the Highlander movies.



*Oh, and what's wrong with this picture? Kevin Tran has read a tablet concerning the banishment of all demons from earth forever, yet when Sam asks where the tablet is, Kevin says it's safe. When Sam tries to access more information from the young prophet Dean interferes and assures Sam that just as long as it's safe...Does Dean not trust Sam? There's so much to talk about in "We Need to Talk About Kevin."



*Jensen. Jensen Ross Ackles!  If Jensen Ackles isn't known as one of the best television actors out there, he needs to be recognized as one of the best actors on television. Kripke created Dean Winchester, but Jensen Ackles made Dean Winchester and icon.  It's like watching two different characters, but I know I'm not. Dean is traumatized and Jensen Ackles plays it with sincerity, subtly, and perfection. In this case, it's beyond perfection. The phone call from Benny unleashes what's lurking deep within this relationship and I can't stop gushing about it. Fans, do we love Dean's Purgatory/postPurgatory voice? I know I do.







Season 8 is starting off with so much mystery. It's a wonderful set up and I can't wait to watch the story Carver and Singer have in store for us.

look for each other. That's smart. Good for you. Of course we always
ignored that because of our deep abiding love for each other but not

Kevin: Eat Me!





Sam: Listen I know this is going to sound crazy to you. I don't
even necessarily need you to understand but you need to know. I didn't
just drop out Dean. I found something. Something I've never had all my
life.

Dean: It was bloody, messy, 31 flavors of bottom-dwelling nasties.
Hell most days felt like 360 degree combat. But there was something
about being there. It felt pure.





Kevin: Banish all demons off the face of the earth. Lock them away forever. That could be important right?



Crowley: Hello boys. Dean, you're looking…well let's just say
Purgatory didn't do you any favors. Where's your angel?

Dean: Ask
your mother.





Kevin: There's a demon in you and you're going to your safety school.









The bottom line: If you haven't watched the episode, you're missing out.

Hi readers, I just thought I should add this:

Yes, I heard an accent and my husband did too in "We Need to Talk About Kevin."

Before Dean and Benny hug and Dean says, "I guess," I thought I caught a little something in his voice.

During the phone conversation, when Dean says, "What we did down there, was what we had to do." There's a distinct accent and Dean's phrasing has a lilt to it.

It's very subtle. When Dean and Benny first meet, Dean says "over there," and there's a little "something" in his voice. I just called it Dean's post/Purgatory voice, which I changed to Purgatory/postPurgatory voice because he has it in Purgatory as well. But yes, whatever Jensen is doing with his voice, there are traces of it in the season premier. I do have to mention that I hear it clearly when I'm watching the episode on TV. My computer speakers are terrible.

- I don't know if it was added later, or if Jensen Ackles wasn't supposed to do it and was fighting off the accent. Maybe it's not supposed to be so heavy an accent. If this is an accident and not meant to happen, then what a cool and amazing happy accident this is. LOL.

I don't know about during the episode, but at the end, when Dean calls Benny there is a certain accent in Dean's voice. Not a lot of people have mentioned it. But it's on the sly. Can't tell what is going on. Just as long as Jensen is consistent with it and it seems like he's doing it consistently. More fans noticed an accent in the second episode. But yeah, you're the only blogger I've come across to describe anything Purgatory/ postPurgatory about Dean's voice. Even before it was changed, you had it down as Dean's postPurgatory voice, lol.

I loved the premier, oh yes, there IS a SOMETHING in Dean's voice at the end of We Need to Talk About Kevin. Nobody has mentioned it but you blogger. I can't tell what is going on. Is it an accident like you think or a happy accident, because really, it adds a layer to Dean and Benny's relationship. An extra layer. Accident or intent to add an extra layer, bring it on!!

Hi, thanks for commenting. I thought Dean's voice was done on purpose, especially because of the phone call scene.

I got a pm about posters hearing a Cajun accent in the second episode, "What's Up, Tiger Mommy" (specifically in the flashback) which I thought was normal because both Max and I heard something in Dean's voice in "We Need to Talk About Kevin." And then I started feeling that I had gone insane because it seems like only a very few of us heard a different Dean in the Purgatory scenes in episode 8x01.

I can't say what is going on. I guess only Jensen knows what is going on. What I said in my first reply might be true. Maybe it was a happy accident. It's possible that Jensen did the scene, an accent came out, he liked it and is now continuing with it. If the actor doesn't know he's doing it, then it's probably the best accident to occur on the show so far. LOL. Who is a foil to whom? If it's a naturally occurring accident, please continue!

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the only cast member who knows Dean's storyline is Jensen Ackles.

But, I must say that when I wrote the review, I called it Dean's postPurgatory voice because of the accent. I thought it was done deliberately to show Dean's trauma and to show how close Dean is to Benny.

Сегодня, дети мои, я научу Вас готовить индийский Масала-чай. Рецепт предоставила горячо любимая tuta2, но вариаций на тему бесчисленное множество, поэтому советую попробовать их все и выбрать свой любимый!

Основа Масала-чая - это молоко, черный чай и пряности. Чайное дерево появилось в Индии во времена Британской колонии, но изначально напиток индийцам не нравился. Колонизаторов, разумеется, это положение никак не устраивало, поэтому в начале 20-ого века, британцы стали агрессивно проталкивать товар в Индии: продажа на внутреннем рынке всегда выгоднее, чем экспорт. Так, Индийская Чайная Организация стала оказывать давление на различные фабрики, заставляя их вводить обязательные "чайные перерывы" для рабочих. Чай в таких перерывах пился нехотя и на английский манер - с молоком и сахаром. И тут кто-то (неЧАЙно) догадался добавлять в напиток специи - корицу, кардамон, перец ... Возмущению Индийской Чайной Организации не было предела, но остановить запущенный процесс было поздно.

Этот сладкий и тёплый напиток идеально подходит для тёмных осенних вечеров. Кроме того, это отличный способ "утилизовать" чёрный чай, который Вам не нравится по вкусу, но который жалко выбрасывать. Как с глинтвейном - основа может быть самая дешевая.

Ингредиенты на чайник (1л)
0,7 молока (должно быть очень свежее!)
0,3 воды
2-3 пакетика черного чая или 3-4 ложки рассыпного чая
1-2 столовые ложки натертого в кашу свежего имбиря (в зависимости от желаемой остроты чая)
1 палочка корицы
1 анисовая звездочка
8-10 семян черного перца
6-8 семян слегка раздавленного ножом кардамона
2-3 почки гвоздики

(имбирь не получилось купить свежий, воспользовалась порошковым. кардамон купила экспериментальный, черный и здоровый, но я думаю, с обычным даже лучше)

1. Молоко и воду смешать в кастрюльке, добавить пряности. Кастрюльку надо брать с длинной ручкой.



2. Довести до кипения и сбавить температуру. Оставить булькать на 5-15 минут.
3. Помешивать!
4. Кому сказала, помешивать?
5. Проверить, не убежало ли. если убежало, повторить шаги 1-4 еще раз.
6. Добавить чай (если чай в пакетиках, можно вскрыть пакетики, убедившись, какую труху нам продают под видом чая, глубоко вздохнуть и высыпать чай в кастрюлю)



7. Подождать, пока смесь ни примет коричневатый цвет. Добавить сахар.



8. Сцедить в чайник через ситечко.



9. Наслаждаться!

ВНИМАНИЕ: Масала-чай пьют только горячим (извращения вроде chai ice tea не в счет). Поэтому если Вы не в силах опустошить 1 литр за раз, залейте его в термос. И будет Вашим чакрам карма.

A Chat with Jared Padalecki at TorCon – On Sam, Season 8 and That Gorgeous Hair!

We were lucky to have the chance to chat for a bit with Jared Padalecki at the Toronto Con, and also to get a report from Jared’s VIP meet and greet from passionate Jared!girl Lynda.


Fans kicked off Jared’s meet and greet with a question that immediately put him in a great mood – can we see a photo of Thomas?

Jared said sure, and pulled out his iPhone, saying that Gen sends him a photo of the baby every morning, so he never has to go a day without seeing his son.

Fans: Awwww

But when Jared pulled out his phone, what came up was not a photo of baby Thomas – but a message from Richard Speight! Jared had busted Richard the day before, sending him a photo of a store called The Small Man Store, with the message, “you should shop here”. Richard had just retaliated by sending Jared a photo of The Moose Factory, with the message “I’ll check that out as soon as you get your mane combed and your hooves clipped.”

Fans: Boys!

Luckily, Jared had plenty of photos of Thomas to share.

Fans: More awwwww

Fan: So what else is going on? What’s new?

Jared said that he’d been approached by actor Justin Hartley and asked to appear on his new reality tv show that explores the exciting lives of the rich and famous. Jared declined.

Jared: My life is too boring! I go to work, come home, play with the kid, play with the dogs, study my sсript, that’s it.

Fans: Sounds plenty interesting to us….

Jared confided that he’d never really been into the Hollywood scene of premieres and red carpets, and now that he’s a dad, even less. Fans nodded their approval.

A fan then brought up the topic that is currently taking over many of our twitter feeds – Jared’s hair.

Fan: So your hair is sort of wavy and long now – is it naturally curly?

Jared: Yes, actually it is. On the first season of Supernatural, they straightened it for Sam. But every time I pulled my shirt over my head, it got all messed up and looked terrible. So I eventually convinced them to stop.

Fans: We approve. (Because Jared’s hair?? Yeah. We might have a bit of a thing for it….)


When talk turned to Season 8, Jared confided that he’d been worried about fan reaction to Sam not looking for Dean after his disappearance at the end of Season 7.

Jared: You guys have to remember, every other time, I’ve had a clue where Jensen is – I mean, where Dean is. I knew he was in hell or something. Sam has always had a way of trying to find him. But this time, I had no idea – he just disappeared and I had no handle on it to even look for him. Also in the past when Dean disappeared, Sam had some support – he had Bobby, or he had someone – but this time there was no one, everyone was gone. It was truly a “fresh start” for Sam. And Sam had to make a new life for himself, and he did — there’s even the Dog.

Fans: *wibble*

Like Jensen, Jared also talked about the conflict coming up between the brothers, over Sam’s fresh start and over Dean’s new relationship with Benny the vampire.

Fans: *are biting nails* Hang on for a wild ride this season!

With a table full of passionate fans, talk turned to how many more seasons of Supernatural we can count on, especially since the boys shared that Mark Pedowicz, the newish head of the CW, had come up to Vancouver and taken the guys out to dinner recently. That bodes well, right?

Jared confirmed that yes, it does.

Fans: Phew!

Jared: It’s gonna go ten years.

[Note: just to clarify, no network pick-up yet, but what Jared thinks]

Fans (are greedy): And after that?

Jared: I don’t know. You can’t ask me about it now, I’d have to consider the circumstances at that time. I’ve had a lot of good advisors throughout my career, there have been things I was offered that I haven’t accepted.

Fans: Like?

Jared: Like the movie American Pie.

Fans: (are imagining certain scenes from American Pie recast with Jared Padalecki….)

Jared: And maybe I could’ve gotten famous overnight, but it wasn’t the direction I wanted my career to go. There’s nothing wrong with the film and those who did do it, but it wasn’t the right direction for me.

Fans: (are hoping that SPN is the right direction for Jared’s career for a long long time!)

We chatted with Jared later in the day about our book that was published earlier this year, Fandom At The Crossroads. Since Jared, Jensen, Misha and Jim all contributed extensive interviews to the book, we gave each of them a copy – but we honestly didn’t expect any of them to actually read it.

When we gave a copy to Jensen, we thanked him for his thoughtful contributions.

Jensen: (grinning) I’m pretty sure you did all the work!

Totally not true, we pointed out – after all, some of the interviews they gave us took place well after midnight after a long day of shooting! Then Jensen made us cry by insisting that we autograph the book. For *him*.

Jensen: After all, I’ve given you tons of autographs over the years, fair is fair….. Um, are you okay?

Us: Um, fine. Something in our eyes….

Then Jared made us get all emotional too at Toronto Con. Damn these boys for being so sweet!

Lynn: So we heard you read some of our book?

Jared: (emphatically) Some?! I read it ALL, every bit of it! Didn’t Misha tell you? I told him to tell you!

Kathy: Um, yeah, he did… but we thought he was probably exaggerating….

Jared: No! I read all of it – and I loved it.

Us: (gaping unattractively) You did??

Jared: I did. It was really well written. And it really helped me understand a lot of things better. Even here, at the conventions.

Us: (still gaping) It did??

Jared: (nodding) So am I still the only one (of the cast) who’s read all of it?

Kathy: Jensen read some, Misha’s been kinda busy, and Jim Beaver read about 2/3 of it last we checked (avid reader that he is, Jim read that much the first day we gave it to him).

Jared: (grins) (with dimples) (just sayin….)

Kathy: (finally recovering some composure) In all seriousness, we really want to thank you, you contributed so much to this book, and it’s done well enough that we have two more books on Supernatural coming out.

Jared: And I’ll read those too! Um, are you okay?

Us: Oh sure, fine. We just keep getting something in our eyes….

You’ll have to forgive us for being so emotional – it’s just that these guys are sometimes too awesome for words. We had a great time at TorCon and were thrilled to catch up a bit with Jared, Richard Speight, Matt Cohen, Chad Lindberg, and Misha Collins. More from those chats later – right now, we need to find some tissues.

The dimples. The dimples just kill me. And the hair too. And especially the fact that Jared’s such a sweetheart – a down to earth and thoughtful guy.
I’m so glad you got a chance to talk with Jared this time around. Its so neat that he read the book! I’ll bet you’re still getting that mote out of your eye.

Um, yeah, we still seem to be having some problem with that dust in the eyes thing. LOL. Let’s hope Jared’s belief that Show will go ten years translates to an actual network pickup — fingers crossed! And yes, such a thoughtful and intelligent guy, truly.

I find it really interesting how Jared sounds almost like he feels that he has to justify Sam’s decision to not look for Dean. It shouldn’t be like that. I feel like the writers really messed up with that storyline and it is such a shame. Sam has had no leads in the past, and he still did not give up on this brother. In fact in Mystery Spot, Sam decided to go it alone to find Dean. I hate that Jared is nervous about fan reaction, but sadly he should be because fan reaction to Sam not looking has been anything but positive. I feel like the show has been drifting from the brother relationship focus for awhile. If the writers seriously want the show to go to 10 seasons, I really think the writers need to bring the emotional focus and heart of SPN back to the brothers.

Also loved Jared’s “Jensen” slip over “Dean” – too funny!

The brother relationship is definitely what got us hooked on the Show, so fingers crossed that it gets back to being the focus – it’s the emotional core of the Show that everything else revolves around. I do think it’s good to explore rifts and anger and hurt between them, because that’s as inevitable in a close relationship as the love is, but at the end of the day I think we’re all looking for that close bond between the brothers to pull us back in.

We loved that slip too — after eight seasons, a little character bleed is inevitable!

When we’re lucky enough to get actual interviews, we’re ridiculously grateful – but we have to pay for the meet & greets like everyone else, so alas, we don’t get to talk to them as often as we wish. We’re grateful for what we do get to do, so try to share everything we can — we’re grateful when other fans do the same when we’re not able to be there!

Lynda, thank you for the report! So good to hear from Jared. He is such an interesting and warm hearted man. As a fan of the show since the pilot, I’m willing to wait and see how Sam’s storyline progresses without rushing to judgment, it is too bad that others won’t do the same.

It must be amazing to have one of your interviewees read all of your book. I mean, it must be amazing to HAVE a book in the first place, but knowing that the people you wrote it about (in a way) liked it enough to read it through… that would make me all tingly inside.

Great interview and I hope you managed to get that pesky dust *wink, wink* out of your eyes!

It makes my little Supernatural heart lighter that there is a great possibility that there will be 10 seasons. A movie? Sounds like he’s going to think on it long and hard. I’m not sure if I want either Boys to do a SPN movie. Wait? What? 10 years is a LONG time in television to be playing the same character. There’s always the risk of being typecast and stuck. It helps that they’re on the CW so you know, they’re famous, to us. LOL

It also really bugs me that Jared seems to have to justify what Sam’s actions were. He’s an actor he simply does what the writers/producers/directors tell him too. Do I especially like the fact that Sam didn’t seem to search for Dean, no. But he’s an actor and some in the fandom just kind of forget . . . it’s a show. Chill out and just enjoy the ride.

It’s super “fan”tastic that Jared has read your book. So cool.

It IS super “fan” tastic that Jared read the book — LOL! We still have a bit of that pesky dust in our eyes as a result I think that both the boys are well aware of the interplay between Show and fandom (hey, they read our book, so they must be…) and so they’re savvy about how fans will react, but I also think they’re well aware of what their job is and what the writers’ job is, and they do an amazing job with what they’re given. At the end of the day, most fans know that too — and can, as you say, enjoy the ride

Jensen Ackles’ meet and greet started out a bit strangely. For some reason, they set up two high chairs for Jensen instead of the customary one. Jensen came in, cocked an eyebrow, then attempted to straddle them both, much to the amusement of the gathered fans. He then gave up and scoffed.


Jensen: Umm, I’m not *that* fat!

Fans: Umm, no…. From where we’re sitting, everything looks pretty much perfect.

After removing one chair, he kicked off the Q and A with a story.

Jensen: So, Jared and I have been known to put back a few cocktails in our time. We had one last night –we went to this place because we’d read about a cocktail that they made there, and it’s $45, for one drink. So of course Jared and I are like, we’ve gotta go see what this is about! So after dinner at Boca, a great Italian place, we went over there and we step up to the bar and we’re like ok, what’s the deal? And the guy’s like, it’s pretty amazing. And we’re like, really?? $45?? So we ordered two of ‘em, and we didn’t know… (chuckles). So it comes out – it takes like ten minutes to prepare – and it’s like a manhattan, vermouth and bourbon and bitters, but it’s their take on it so they have all these other ingredients they put in it. It comes out and it’s sitting on an iron pedestal – with a glass jar on top of it, so the whole thing stands like this big off the bar.

(At that he jumps up to demonstrate that it stands freaking two feet tall or something – who can tell when you’re watching Jensen leaping around??)

Jensen: And the glass jar is completely filled with smoke. There are hickory chips inside that are smoking – the cocktail is on top of this bed of smoldering wood that’s filling up this jar and smoking up the drink. So now the entire bar smells like a campfire. We’ve got four ladies at the other end of the bar going like choking – and we take the jar off and it’s like David Copperfield with all the smoke. And I will say that it was probably the best drink I’ve ever had. Though I don’t know if it was worth 45 bucks! Anyway, I just had to tell someone about that.

Fans: Feel free to tell us anything….

Jensen: So, any questions?

Lynn: (who was just about jumping out of her seat dying to ask this one….) Fans were sort of surprised that Sam didn’t look for Dean a little harder – and it seemed like you played Dean as if he was also kinda hurt and miffed. What is your take – how is Dean making sense of that?

Jensen: He’s not, and you’ll see him struggle. It will unfold in the next few episodes, we’ll start showing it, giving the audience a little more insight into what happened to Sam and what happened to Dean when they were separated, through flashbacks. So it starts to kinda show you what he was doing but it doesn’t really explain why, and I think that will be a big thing that gets revealed eventually. And they fight about it. Dean’s very upset about it. He’s like, how the hell can you have gone a year and not tried to find me?

Lynn: (practically bouncing out of her chair) Yes! Exactly!!

Jensen: So we’re now filming episode 8, and it hasn’t fully been revealed yet, and it’s added to their struggle, amongst other struggles that they’re going through. Benny being one of them.

Lynn: Oooh, great character!

Jensen: Benny is a great character, and you’ll see more of Ty in future episodes. He’s a great actor, he instantly became part of the family. But the relationship that Benny and Dean forged in Purgatory has now made it topside, and Sam doesn’t understand why. It’s always been very cut and dried for Dean, black and white. So you’ll see that struggle, both Dean struggling with it, and also Sam saying ‘look man, if you’re not gonna take him out, maybe I will.’ And Dean doesn’t want that. He’s protected Benny and Benny has protected Dean, and there’s some really tough lines that Dean says about this situation.

Lynn: Sounds juicy.

Jensen: (grins) It is.

Fan: So how was directing again?

Jensen: It seems to be increasingly difficult, and I think maybe that’s because ignorance is bliss the first time. The more I do it, the more I understand it, the more I know, the more things I have to think about. It’s not like I just went in shooting from the hip for the first one, I knew what I was doing, but there are so many intracacies to directing. It really is an art form, and to find the artistic value in it is unique to everyone. I’m still finding that, as opposed to doing it as a formula that I’ve used in the past. The more I do it, the more I realize there’s so much between the lines, adding to the complexity.

Fan: So you’re developing your own style?

Jensen: Absolutely. It’s the same as when I started acting. I knew I’m supposed to memorize these lines and sell them on camera. And the more I did it, the more I realized that it was also what was happening in between the lines, the moment when I wasn’t talking, is important.

Fan: So you’ll do it again?

Jensen: Yeah – if they let me. I always say, if they let me.

Fan: Last convention, someone asked if Dean was a real person, would you get along with him. And I don’t know if you were joking, but you said no.

Jensen: (deadpans) I was joking.

Fans: (are laughing. And possibly relieved)

Jensen: Because I think I would get along with Dean. He reminds me not of one friend in particular, but of friends that I have in my life and love. I think I made Dean out of a collection of people that I know. And then he just kinda took off with a life of his own. I think we’d be friends, I mean, the guy drives an awesome car….His brother’s a little weird, but…

Fan: What is Dean’s most attractive asset?

Other fans: (silently) Oh, let’s list them, shall we? Oh wait, G-rating here, isn’t it?



Fan: His leather jacket?

Jensen: Not anymore! First one was stolen, and the second one got beat to hell in Purgatory. Dean I think moved on. But I’d say his loyalty is, it’s one of the biggest things Dean has that he can’t shake no matter what. Whatever he’s going through, there’s a sense of loyalty. Right or wrong, he’s gonna be loyal to the people he made promises to. And I think that’s an admirable quality. But I also like that he’s flawed, I like him better because he’s not perfect. He can be a jerk, he can be short-sighted, and hard-headed. People aren’t perfect, and to have a perfect character doesn’t make sense. I’ve always gravitated toward the flawed characters, the reluctant heroes.

Fans: *are nodding*

Fan: When you first saw the sсript for Supernatural, what did you think of it? Did you ever see it getting a successful as it is now?

Jensen: I knew it was special. I remember reading it and thinking, this has got a shot at being successful. I originally had to read for Sam because they wanted to cast Sam first, he was going to be the focal point, the Luke Skywalker character, so they wanted to cast him first before they found Dean. And after reading the sсript, I just immediately gravitated toward Dean. I hope that videotape of me reading for Sam never comes out – it’s out there somewhere.

Fans: (silently) Note to self: scour Youtube.

Jensen: But as soon as I read for Kripke and David Nutter, I asked if there was any way I could read for Dean, and David said that’s very funny, because while I was reading for Sam, Eric leaned over and was like, (whisper) he’d be a better Dean. So I never even read for Dean until the final test, which is the last stage of the audition process. They bring you in for the network people, in a room twice this size with 30 execs and you audition for them. And Jared and I were the only actors that day – usually there are about ten – I read Dean, he read Sam, and they sent us out of the room, talked for about five minutes, then brought us back in and were like, (claps) congratulations! So initially the relationship between the brothers I thought is the crux of the show, what it all revolved around. I knew that if that relationship worked on camera, the Show was going to work.

Fans: And damn, you were right!

Next was a burning question we’ve all asked ourselves when watching SPN.

Fan: How do you do that one perfect tear?

Jensen: The OPT?

Fans: (are impressed with his knowledge of fannish parlance)

Jensen: I don’t know! I wish there was a button, but there is not. It’s honestly, when I’m doing scenes like that, I’m really into them, I’m using as much real emotion as I can possibly muster. I’m thinking about the situation that Dean is in and putting myself in that situation. I treat it as reality when they yell action, and because of that it makes it easy to get the emotion. It’s weird because for the longest time I could never do that on camera. I guess I figured the trick to it was – you know, when you’re about to cry, your face heats up, your heart rate goes up, your body starts to react to this emotion that’s gonna make you cry. And your brain knows it’s not real, but your body is reacting to real emotion. I remember whenever there was a scene I thought I needed to cry for, I would get that feeling and I’d think c’mon, just squeeze one out! And it didn’t work. And I remember one time I started getting really emotional during a scene where I didn’t want to cry, and I tried to not cry, and boom!

Jensen mock cries. Fangirls go boom.

Jensen: So I think it’s one of those things, when you get emotional, you try to hold it in and you can’t – that’s how it happens. I don’t know if any of that made sense.

Fans: Actually it made perfect sense.

Jensen: Sometimes when I’ve had a really heavy emotional scene, when there’s tears coming down my face, they yell cut and I have to take a walk. I’m like (sobs and sort of hyperventilates again).

Fans: Umm, we could console you if you want….

Jensen: Your body doesn’t know it’s not real, and it’s hard to wipe it off. I remember one time it was a scene when Dean was telling Sam what 40 years of hell was like, and I got so emotional that I had to walk away. And J. Miller Tobin was directing, and he caught up with me about a hundred yards down the road and I was still in tears and he just wrapped his arms around me and gave me a hug, and I was like, thanks man. It’s tough, and it’s amazing, I remember those scenes. We’ve done 158 episodes and I don’t remember all of them, jokes etc, but those emotional scenes have left imprints on me.

Fan: In your eight years, what is your special moment?

Jensen: Well, off the show, I’d say getting married.

Fans: Good boy.

Jensen: (mimes speaking into a hidden microphone) Is this thing on?

Fans: LOL

Jensen: On the show, I think there are certain moments that really stand out. One of them was AHBL1, where Dean is talking over dead!Sam. I remember that scene very vividly, because it was a very emotional scene. I went to Kim Manners, who was directing that episode, who we lost a few years ago, and that was part of why it was so memorable for me, there was such an intimacy between myself and Kim filming that scene. I was really the only one performing, because Jared was just laying there like a lump.

Fans: LOL

Jensen: And I do remember, one of the takes that I did, Jared rolled a tear out while he was laying there, so I knew I was on the right track.

Fans: Awwwwww *sniffle*

Jensen: I remember going up to Kim at his office and saying hey man, this scene, I don’t know how many takes I have in me. I want to know what you’re thinking camera wise, because it’s gonna be tough to get through. So he wrote it all down that night and I would only have to do it three or four times, and I thought, okay, I can do that. And he tented off the whole set – we were on the stage, but a lot of the time you’ve got 30 sweaty crew guys staring at you, and the camera guys, but he tarped off the set so I could barely even see the camera. He set the camera up about 15 feet away, whereas normally it’s like right here, and there was a black backdrop and all the camera guys put black shirts on, so they basically disappeared into the black, so I literally felt like I was sitting there alone in a room with Jared. And there was just something very unique about that experience.

There was literally a moment of silence after that, with Jensen and all of us remembering both the gravity and despair of that scene, and the very real loss of the Show’s – and fandom’s – beloved Kim Manners. Finally someone broke the silence….

Fan: So about that amulet….

Jensen: You know, there’s the politically correct answer that Sam could’ve picked it up out of the garbage can and we’re waiting for it to return.

Fans: YES!

Jensen: And then there’s the what you don’t wanna hear, which is the writers got sick of it. But they did make it available to return if they needed that to happen. I think Bob Singer was like so sick of trying to explain why it was, where it came from, what its powers were, it became too much of burden. They said let’s shelve it for a while, and if we need it we can bring it back

Fans: (emphatically) We need it.

Jensen: That’s kind of the unfortunate collateral damage of doing a 42 minute show. Characters get shelved, plots get shelved. If it was a two hour show, we’d have more time to explain things and flesh out characters and storylines. But I agree, I think there’s room for it to come back.

And since we were in Canada….

Canadian fan: Where have you been in Canada?

Jensen: Not that many places – obviously we shoot in Vancouver, and here, I love Toronto. Calgary once, but I don’t remember it. I’d really like to go to Montreal.

Fan: That’s what Jared said too!

Jensen: And this might sound weird, but I’d also like to go to Nova Scotia, the coast over there, Newfoundland, yeah. All of Canada – even Thunder Bay. My buddy Kevin Durant, who played Joshua in Dark Angel, he’s gone on to have a really successful career and he’s a lovely man, and he’s from Thunder Bay.

Fan: So I’ve seen a lot of videos of you singing….

Jensen: (protests) What? There’s ONE!

Fan: Okay, one.

Jensen: Unless there’s like a karaoke thing out there.

Fans: (additional note to self to keep scouring Youtube)

Jensen: That wasn’t my idea.

Fan: But you like to sing?

Jensen: As much as the next person – in the shower, whatever….

Fans: (zone out imagining….) Um, what?

Jensen: I do love music, I play guitar a little, but it’s more just for myself. When I get home from a long day, it’s very relaxing to sit down and pluck a guitar and sing a little ditty, just kinda get lost – it’s probably healthier than just hitting the bottle, which some people in the industry do. And I have musician friends who probably pull it out of me a little more than otherwise. If I didn’t have Steve and Jason in my life, you probably would have never heard me sing.

Fans: (sending thank you notes to Steve and Jason)

Fan: Like all great actors, you fill the space that you occupy even when you’re not speaking, the emotions that cross your face, the little gestures, it’s mesmerizing…

Jensen: The editors have thanked me for that, for ‘not turning it off’ as they call it. To me it makes sense, because when you’re shooting a scene, there are different camera setups – but I figure, if I’m on camera, I might as well do something. If it’s over my shoulder on your coverage, I’m asleep. But when the camera is over your shoulder looking at me, yeah, I’m gonna react and I know that the editor is gonna be on you when you’re talking, but I know if there needs to be a reaction of something they can cut away to it. It’s something I never realized until about season four, how clear my mind gets when I hear ‘action’. I don’t think about anything else. Not troubles in the world, not injuries I might have, it just all gets blurred out and I’m extremely focused on playing Dean, and making Dean as much into this moment as I can. I think the little nuances and stuff in between lines goes along with that.

He paused, and smiled.

Jensen: And thanks for noticing.

Sole male fan in the room: My sister and I watch tv, and we find that when we see actors in other series, they’re not as good as they are on Supernatural. Is that something that’s sort of infectious?

Jensen: It can be. Jared and I hear it a lot, when guest stars come on, that this is funnest set they’ve ever been on. It’s relaxed, and I’m not saying that’s the reason, but there’s a comfort to our set that people don’t have to worry whether they’re going to offend the lead actor. I’ve been on sets where it’s very stiff. A lot of that is the top down. If the lead actor is – pardon my French – an asshole, then that’s gonna be infectious, everyone will be walking on eggshells. Actors will come in and won’t want to get too comfortable, just do the job, and that makes for a very rigid performance in my opinion. If you can have a relaxed comfortable work environment, that sets a palette for being able to shine. And I think that Jared and I – we talked about it in Season 1 – that if this continues, it’s important that we set like a tone on this show that’s fun, exciting, comfortable – because there’s 150 people here who we work with every day. Why make it miserable for everyone? And there were a couple of bad apples on the crew early on that they got rid of. We spend way too much time together not to get along. So that might have something to do with it.

It might indeed. And with that, Jensen was thanking us and heading out to his next event. We caught up with him later and thanked him for his thoughtful answers. He grinned.

Jensen: This is FUN. I should thank you guys!

Thanks for this! I really have to spring for a M&G someday, just for the chance to be part of one of these really focused, intense opportunities to interact with one of the guys on what doing this show has meant to them not only as people, but as actors developing their craft. And in Jensen’s case, also as a director honing his skill and a musician stretching his wings!
And when will Fangasm the book come out, again? *grin*

I loved the OPT story! But I remember Jensen telling a story during an old con, about the crew naming that event the One Perfect Tear OPT. lol So this is one time the fandom followed the lead of the crew, by calling it that.
I liked the loyalty answer as well. You can see that’s on his mind during these episodes. It is a powerful thing for Carver to challenge Sam and Dean that way.
I’m struck by Jensen’s excitment for the acting challenges this year. I think it’s the first time in 3 years that he’s been given anything meaty, and it’s good to see him show it. It still has me nervous as hell though, lol.
Thanks again for your report, it’s always revealing!

Always, always love your reports, as they always make me feel as though I am right there with you! This was a wonderful meet and greet with wonderful questions. It is interesting to know that Dean will be struggling with the knowledge of Sammy not looking for him. I’d personally like to believe that as we see more and more flashbacks on both Sammy and Dean we will learn a truly valid reason as to why. What a ride this will be! Thank you again so much!

OUR STORY
This is the story of two college professors who fell hard for a show called Supernatural. Obsession, devotion, fascination, call it what you will. We decided to figure out what was going on with us by writing a book on fandom from the fans' perspective. As academics do, we hit the libraries and internet, accumulating stacks of articles and hundreds of pages of research. We typed and revised and theorized, quoted and footnoted, and ended up with an academic text crammed full of the current scholarship on fandom.
This is not that book.
Somewhere along the line, the research took a back seat to the road trip as we traveled across the US and Canada interviewing the show’s fans, as well as the actors and directors, writers, journalists, bloggers, convention organizers, significant others and insignificant hangers-on. Fangasm! is the story of that year-long roadtrip -- the surprises we never saw coming, the secrets uncovered, the behind-the-scenes insights, the heartwarming and heartbreaking fan confessions. It’s also the story of our shared obsession and the friendship that sustains us through 4 am line-ups, overtaxed credit cards, canceled flights and airport camp-outs, and of course the occasional accusations of insanity.

For this Wednesday waistband we get a great look at Jensen Ackles’ underwear in a stunt scene from “Supernatural.” These could be either briefs or boxer briefs. It’s hard to make out the brand though.

  Jensen’s underwear of choice is definitely boxer briefs, although possible he is wearing something more protective (ie sports-wear) whilst doing this stunt. You can also see a protective back brace under his shirt.

  They’re still CoreShorts in my opinion, not boxer briefs. Coreshorts are a way lot different than briefs or boxer briefs. as they are padded undershorts used as fitness wear.

  I agree with Eric. I’m sure the underwear shown here that Jensen Ackles is wearing are boxer briefs. According to the Celebrity Boxers or Briefs List, Jensen’s underwear of choice is boxer briefs, so my guess is that the underwear Jensen is wearing in the filming are boxer briefs, and he might be sticking to his underwear of choice as mentioned in the Celebrity Boxers or Briefs list… unless the undies shown here are briefs.

Sam, Amelia and the dog is the worst of these pictures.
Sam looks completely out of place walking beside Amelia, and he seems about as happy as a cat on a hot tin roof.

Then we have the one of Amelia sitting in the classical female pose of supernatural; just like Lisa did in Dean's dream plus dog instead of Ben.

Not too fussy on the family guest star either.

So summing up, for me there are four great photos out of the lot of them.

Awww. When "Supernatural" star Jensen Ackles took his turn behind the camera this summer to direct the season's third episode, "Heartache," he kept it all in the family and cast his dad, Alan Ackles, in a fun cameo role. Judging from this behind-the-scenes photo, the Ackles men had a blast working together.

It's Jensen's third time directing an episode of his show. "He always does -- even though it doesn't air first -- the first episode of the season. We do that because than he couldn't actually have prep time if he did an episode in the middle," says executive producer Bob Singer.

For Jensen's first time in the director's chair, he helmed an episode that focused on Bobby (Jim Beaver), so his character was in it very little. His second episode centered on Sam (Jared Padalecki) -- and Jensen's character, Dean, was laid up with a broken leg, allowing him to focus on what he was doing behind the camera, not in front of it. This time, the producers didn't hold back on writing Dean scenes into the episode.

"He's in this one quite a bit," Singer laughs. "We threw him in the deep end of the pool."

"I think last year I was only in three days out of eight," Jensen says. "This year I'm in all eight days, so it's a little difficult."

Luckily, some of the work is second nature at this point. "The stuff with Jared, the scenes in motel rooms and things like that, I can pretty much block it all myself, pick my camera shots, and he and I just go do our business as usual," he adds. "It's when we have scenes with guest stars who need direction or who want direction or want that kind of affirmation of 'Is this right? Am I playing this right?' That became very difficult because... I'm trying to be Dean, [and] I'm also trying to keep an eye out for what they're doing so I can give them notes on their performances after they yell cut."

The episode airs Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.

Alfred Hitchcock used to cameo in most of his films, increasingly becoming more obvious and on screen for longer. There are various other examples which are documented on various Internet sites.

Cameos by Actors

Famous actors have made numerous cameo appearances in big and not-so-big budget films. Sometimes the actors are associated with the movie's production or financing, so they use their star power and word-of-mouth cameo appearance to drive up publicity. They will often go uncredited to keep the element of surprise. California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appears in the action movie "The Rundown." He briefly passing by the star, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, in a nightclub scene and tells him to "have fun." This cameo has been described by the movie's director as a passing of the torch between Schwarzenegger's movie roles as an action hero to The Rock.
Cameos by Directors

Sometimes the directors themselves will appear in movies. Alfred Hitchcock, the famous director of "The Birds" and other suspense movies, showed up in 37 of his works. Quentin Tarantino makes a brief appearance in "Pulp Fiction" as Jimmy Dimmick, a friend who helps the lead characters dispose of a body. Stan Lee has appeared in all the "Spiderman" movies and also Ang Lee's "Hulk" where he plays a security cop alongside the original television Hulk, Lou Ferrigno. M. Night Shamalayan casts himself frequently in his own movies. He appeared as a sheriff in "The Village" but could only be seen in the reflection of a mirror.
Nontraditional Cameos

Occasionally other people in the sports or entertainment world will show up in a movie. Sean "P Diddy" Combs played the soon-to-be executed husband of Halle Berry's Leticia Musgrove in "Monster's Ball." Some will play themselves, like Donald Trump did in the movie "Zoolander". Will Smith played the role of Chris Gardner in the true story movie "The Pursuit of Happyness," and Chris Gardner himself appeared very briefly at the end of the movie.

SE Hinton, the author, has a small cameo role in the movie as one of Matt Dillon's nurses while in the hospital after the fire.

S. E. Hinton's Real Name is Susan Elenor Hinton, but her publisher thought many people would assume a woman couldn't write a book like 'The Outsiders'. Later in life she realized she liked the privacy and kept the name.

"The Outsiders" was made back-to-back with Coppola's other S.E. Hinton adaptation, "Rumble Fish".

Author S.E. Hinton played a (brief) cameo role in the film. She is the nurse tending to Dallas Winston in his hospital room following the fire. He characteristically does not want to be fussed over and orders her to go away.

After S.E. Hinton wrote the outsiders she had a major writers block for 3 years. Then her boyfriend (now husband)suggested she wrote at least 2 pages everyday before going anywhere. This then led to her second novel, "That was then this is now".
