Конверты можно было передавать только через своих знакомых и родственников. До бостонского адресата дошло 60 конвертов. Произведя подсчеты, Милгрэм определил, что в среднем каждый конверт прошел через шесть человек. Так и родилась теория «шести рукопожатий».

Повторили эксперимент Милгрэма при помощи электронной почты ученые кафедры социологии Колумбийского университета. Тысячам добровольцев они предложили «достучаться» до 20 засекреченных человек, о которых сообщали лишь основные характеристики: имя, фамилию, род занятий, место жительства, образование. Первой успешной попыткой стало определение почтового адреса одного из таких «засекреченных» в Сибири. Доброволец из Австралии нашел адрес сибирской «цели» при помощи всего четырех сообщений! [1]

Анализ экспертами Microsoft данных, полученных за месяц общения 242 720 596 пользователей, занял два года. Объем исследуемых данных составил около 4,5 терабайт. На этой базе данных было установлено, что каждый из 240 миллионов пользователей сервиса мог бы «дойти» до другого в среднем за 6,6 «шага». Чем исследователи математически доказали теорию и расхожую шутку о том, что через пять человек каждый из нас знаком с английской королевой. Между прочим, на основе теории «тесного мира» возникло и множество популярных в США игр. Например, ученые играют в «Число Эрдёша». Венгерский математик Пол Эрдёш — один из крупных учёных ХХ века, имеющий огромное число работ, написанных в соавторстве. Нужно найти кратчайшую цепочку от него до другого известного учёного. Если он написал какую-нибудь работу вместе с Эрдёшом, то число Эрдёша у него равно единице. Ещё одну попытку подтвердить Теорию шести рукопожатий предприняли пользователи социальной сети ВКонтакте. Специальное приложение ("Цепочка друзей - теория шести рукопожатий") позволяет искать цепочки знакомств между пользователями сети. Поскольку аудитория ВКонтакте ограничена (Россия и страны СНГ), добиться тех же результатов, какие были описаны выше, не удаётся - цепочки оказываются короче (3 - 4 человека). But Sam wants a "normal" life -- and escapes to college to try and find one. Suddenly, Dean shows up on his doorstep with news that their father is missing. Following clues from a phone message, Dean and Sam travel to a small town and encounter a vengeful spirit called the "Woman in White."

They should've just named this one: X-Files: the next generation.

The relationship between the brothers was interesting to watch, just not sure how the whole plot line for the series is going to work. Brothers ghost bust across the country while searching for missing Dad???? WTF! And why wouldn't the father just use a phone? The whole plot, the more I think about it, seems totally lame.

I actually liked this one as it leaves us with that mystery and questions to answer...

Tho I may have to tape it and watch in the daylight hours.

Will be interesting to see if they can sustain interest in the overall story arc as the weeks go by but this one grabbed my interest in a way that only Lost has before it....and I personally disliked X-Files

Definitely on my must see list for this season.....so far

And I'm thinking that Jensen Ackeles' Smallville character must be a no show for this season or only put in a brief appearance perhaps

I liked it. Not as much as I thought I would, but still. It wasn't that scary to me, but I love horror movies so maybe I'm just numb now.

The interactions between the brothers was good. Jensen Ackles was funny as Dean, but he's always been a smartass in just about everything he plays.

Them searching for their dad doesn't bother me. We've seen one episode. It could go in any direction. It could be that next episode has them lose all track of their dad. IIRC, the creators said that they didn't want a long arc like Los or Alias. They wanted each episode to be pretty much self contained. They said the arc would slowly unfold. I like that. Don't get me wrong, I love story arcs, but it'll be nice not to have to remember every little detail of every show, and to be totally lost by missing one episode.

This show has promise. The first episode was good, and I think they're only going to get better.

Ye gods, that was exactly as dull as I expected it to be. Nice to see it lived up to expectations.

The teaser and tag were vaguely interesting as was the potential arc, but the episode's story and characters... it would be difficult to care less if I bothered to try.

Meh.

One show down, how many more new ones left to suffer through... err... check out?

Funny, because right before the show came on, a message saying: "Don't turn out the lights" came on.

So, naturally I thought it be scary...and since horror movies are best in the dark, I turned every light off.

At the end of the show I was like: "That's it?" That's what they call scary?

Gotta agree with LoTS. Not as scary as I expected. The only show that's ever actually made me get a little scared is The X-Files. I think it will get better.

This show was supposed to be scary. It wasn't. There were comedy X-Files episodes that were scarier. The creator of the show desribed the brothers as Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. The younger brother Sam must've been Luke because he whined a little too much.

Perhaps not that scary but there was that initial scary moment...recreated later that got to me. Not sure why exactly...perhaps my own personal long running nightmare of being burned alive made it scary for me...


I can see a lot of promise here but whether it will continue is a whole other question

As to it being dull or whatever....to each their own. We will never all agree on something. But I see some promise here and except for the rare exception I seldom like pilots for any show even if I later become a big fan.

I'm with thosethat enjoyed it, and nope i don't see any connection at all with X-Files! Actualy with the ghost hunters in a big black muscle car with a case of weapons in the trunt and loving the power guitar bands.....i was thinking Phantasim 2!!!! (Just without all the brain sucking!)

It is the main arc, finding dad and the evil force that killed mom that will make our break the show. Without that it is just Buffy without the Joss!

As to how scary? Eh! It takes a lot more then a TV show to scare me. Horror movies work because there are no commercials and the lights are out. You can't get scared when a breakfest cerial commecial comes on in the middle of the big scare.

I will be watching this next week!

I enjoyed this overall...although, there were a few points where I just tuned out. I was watching, but not watching. I find it interesting...that the thing that killed their mother is the same thing that killed the girlfriend. Also interesting that it hasn't killed any other woman in all this time. I would really like to find out exactly what that thing is.

I will keep watching and hope they explain it someday.

Whoever or whatever was standing over HIS crib as a baby.... and then kills HIS girlfriend...so is this all somehow aimed at Sam? Is it going to turn out that he is 'special' in some as yet unknown way?

Those are the questions that may keep me tuning in...not so much the search for Dad thing.

I think it's a curse on the family, that the women they fall in love with will always die in that way, were they can see them. It might have been laid on their grandfather or further back, and the father just never knew how his mother died.

The other option is that some entity that really doesn't like the family has a very specific tactics for getting at them. However if the father was the first of the family to get into the whole battling spirits and stuff what did they do that resulted in this entiity being so pissed at them?

We don't know if the entity has or hasn't killed any other women yet. They said they hadn't found it, but nothing about if they found other victims like their mother. So I say it's up in te air right now if this thing has killed anyone else besides the mom and girlfriend. Though I do believe Sam is special in some way.

The arc will keep me coming back, but also the individual legends they'll encounter. I liked the Woman in White legend, and how it was dealt with. So I'm looking forward to seeing what other American legends they use.

I quickly lost interest. What I saw just looked very typical of most horror type genre. Looked pretty predictable to me. I stopped watching after about the first 15 or 20 minutes. Didn't think it was worth wasting my time on.

Awwwwwwwwww I liked it! It's not brilliant or anything mostly because the two leads um....need some work on their acting... and because the premise is not only not new it's not particularly fresh. The fx were good and I liked a lot of the writing (especially the mulder/scully quip) but I can't believe it's cheaper to produce than Angel and I'm wondering why WB would cancel one show about a bunch of people who hunt supernatural bad guys and replace it with another show about a bunch of people who hunt supernatural bad guys. *Shrug*

I missed the first showing of this because of a conflict with another show, but I found a repeat showing this afternoon. Still missed the first 15 minutes, because I didn't know it was on, but if the Sunday repeat showing is going to be an ongoing thing and not just a one-shot, I'll probably watch.

Didn't seem overly original, but there's still enough interesting bits to make me want to see if it gets better. Well, that and Ackles is v. pretty.

Is it wrong I want to travel back in time and molest his younger self? Seriously though, diss boy bands if you want, but I think this look worked for him. I probably would have picked different glasses, but I think he is dead sexy in glasses.I think the frosted tips are even working for him. Wasn't a big fan of his early Days look, but there towards the end=HOT! He really does look like a completely different person now. Can I have them both at the same time please?

And I love the GEEK in him. I think this look is so DELICIOUS! He's got so many beautiful sides. In this interview, you can tell he's a lot of fun with his dry sense of humor and cheekiness. It's amazing, even though Jensen's got delicate/pretty features, he's a guys, guy. There's nothing girly in his actions, or GEEKY. He doesn't seem to be much aware of the fact that he's prettier than most of the girls he's with including his wife! And that makes him always beautiful to me.

The 'hatin on the fans' probably is because Jensen is rather shy.

Even in the newer interviews, he always visibly more comfortable when Jared is there with him. Some people mistake shy for arrogance and standoffish.

Jensen is about 19 is this clip. He still looks the same. The only difference besides being 12 years younger, is the shorter, blonder hair and his glasses. He wears contacts now. Doesn't bother me but to each his own. This guy is beautiful on the outside, and from what we have seen of him beautiful on the inside as well.

I enjoy horseback riding and hanging out with friends.

DID YOU GO HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

I was home for two and a half weeks. I really enjoyed being with family and old friends.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR LUNCH AND BREAKS AT WORK?

If at all possible, I run home and take care of my dog Dallas.

YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH SOME OF THE MOST TALENTED ACTING VETERANS ON DAYTIME; CAN YOU TELL US WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED FROM THEM?

I've learned so much on the professional level; lighting, finding camera movements, improvisation and running lines.

THE ROLE OF ERIC IS FAIRLY NEW, BUT IF YOU COULD, WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU MAKE IN THE CHARACTER?

I have no complaints really. As far as changes, maybe Eric could be more understanding of John's feelings, after all he did raise him as his son. I know the antagonism makes an interesting story line, but I also feel that this will be worked out in time.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE AND DISLIKE ABOUT ERIC?

I like that Eric is very laid back and doesn't show emotion, yet he has a "fire" within. It makes him mysterious. I dislike that he goes against adults when he's still so young and not experienced in the ways of the world.

HAVE YOU BEEN DOING ANY PUBLICITY APPEARANCES? IF SO, HAS THE FAN REACTION SURPRISED YOU?

I've done a few and am trying to do more. The response has overwhelmed me!

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO GO FROM BEING JENSEN ACKLES TO PLAYING A ROLE ON TELEVISION'S FAVORITE DAYTIME DRAMA?

It's..."MIND BOGGLING!"

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST EXPERIENCE BEING RECOGNIZED AS "ERIC" BY A FAN?

My parents were in town for a visit and we went to a restaurant, Planet Hollywood. A fan approached our table for an autograph, I signed the autograph and my parents were stunned.

VIEWERS STILL HAVEN'T LEARNED ABOUT ERIC'S PAST, IS THERE SOMETHING YOU CAN SHARE WITH US?

Sorry to say, we are sometimes the last to learn. We get our scripts just two weeks ahead of airtime. The truth is, the crew usually knows more than the actors.

David Sperber, the Days of Our Lives publicist came down to the set and handed me a letter. At first I thought it was a joke, then total denial, all I could say was "No way!" As soon as I could think, I called my parents. P.S. Jensen was the winner!

WHEN YOU LEFT HOME TO PURSUE ACTING, WAS YOUR FAMILY SUPPORTIVE?

Yes, definitely. It was hard to leave home and it took about a year to adjust.

I'm not talking about cliches; I said they are "LIKE common sayings," NOT they "ARE common sayings." You've probably never heard of them and you'll only hear Jensen and Jared say them under their breath very casually & then they'll laugh because of the meaning behind it. Some they'll use out of context intended as an oxymoron; only some one very familiar and comfortable with discussing the bible would use the passages in the manner they do. i know b/c I'm around such people; it's our language.

Honestly people, stop with the "real man" thing. It's utterly ridiculous to claim that everyone who doesn't fall under certain stereotype is somehow less of a 'real' man. Darren Criss is a talented actor and musician (and judging by interviews, a charming and clever person as well), and the way he supports the LGBT community is wonderful * he's truly someone to look up to. He portrays a confident gay teen in Glee, and characters like Blaine mean a lot to people struggling with their sexuality.

I just don't see why you have to disrespect Darren so much? The only excuse you have is that he is from Glee and that he's 24, meaning he's younger than Jensen. That doesn't stop the fact he's extremely talented, charming, a nice guy and even very good looking. Why wouldn't he deserve this title as much as Jensen does? Yes, he is young, but, excuse me, Jensen wasn't even close to accomplishing as much as Darren did at such a young age. Yes, he achieved all of that later, and he deserves respect, but why can't Darren get the same treatment as well? I'm not a "kiddie." I'm nearly 44. I enjoy the show "Supernatural" and like both Jensen and Jared just fine. They are good actors and not too shabby to look at. I am unfamiliar with Nathan Fillion's current TV series but I did really like him in both "Buffy" and "Dr. Horrible." I find the comments from some of the so called "fans" of these actors to be obnoxious and immature particularly in their apparent need to insult Darren Criss. It's ironic how they wish to dismiss us "Glee" and Darren Criss fans as "kiddies." Darren is a very talented young man: a newcomer who has only begun to show his light to the world. And yes, a man can be a "real man" without playing an action hero. A man can be an "alpha male"/a LEADER without cutting off monsters' heads. And a kissing someone can be a braver, stronger action than punching someone in the face.

I like Glee, I really do, but SN is the only show that I do not miss. We are voting for characters here, not actors so it makes no difference if Darren has an acting degree and Jensen doesn't. It makes no difference that Darren is a good singer (actually, Jensen is a very good singer who in his off time sings in a band). I am disappointed in the remarks being made against Darren though because he portrays a gay person. While I admire his characters leadership skills, I just can't put glee club leadership skills ahead of a person (character in the show) who puts his very life on the line to protect and save perfect strangers and has been doing so since he was a child. While I don't care for some of the nasty comments, my vote still goes to Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles).

@Arweniel...I voted in this poll the last time they had it and it was the characters we were voting for, plus at the very beginning of this one they continually refer to the characters the actors portray, asking which 'character' do you believe is the most alpha male. That makes it pretty clear to me that its the character the actor portrays, not the actor himself. Doesn't really matter to me, I'd still vote for Jensen/Dean. I've met him and he is a very nice, humble person. He also stands up for those he cares about, as characterized by an incident that happened to Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) at a Supernatural convention. He is incredibly talented in acting and singing and has been around since before he was in his twenties. So, either way, he is an alpha male.

We check in to see what song Blaine is going to sing, or which monster Dean is going to save the innocent civilian from. Yes, we love the actors who play these awesome guys, but its the awesome guys they portray that we are tuning in each week just to see what will happen next. So, that being said, I'm voting for Dean Winchester...he and his brother Sam Winchester have been putting their lives on the line since they were kids and both have died for each other (and come back because hey...it's Supernatural). But, the show isn't just about killing monsters...blood, guts and gore. In fact, it's more about the relationship between two brothers and the lengths they'll go to to protect each other. 'Nuff said.

There's no need to be spiteful and cruel and cast aspersions about cheating and rigged polls. Being a fan of both shows, I can honestly say that Gleeks come just as hard as SPN fans. Darren plays one half of Glee's most popular OTP and just as the SPN fandom comes out of the woodwork to vote on any poll big or small in support of Jared and Jensen so do Glee fans. Last year, the True Blood fans went batsh*t when Alexander Skarsgård was losing against Jensen Ackles and accused eonline of manipulating the polls and this time it's the SPN fans who are doing that because Darren Criss is doing well against Jensen. Give it up guys! SPN and Glee both have huge fanbases. I should know as I'm in both and I think both Jensen and Darren deserve this title. "Alpha Male" isn't just about physical strength anymore. In this day and age it means a leader. Someone people can look up to, for various reasons. Someone people listen to and who can make people listen. Both Jensen and Darren fall into this category. this is just my own opinion: I think most people only vote for Jensen because he's just "hot", and I do agree that he is, and so is Darren! But I didn't vote for Darren because of how he looks. I voted for him because he (and his character Blaine) is one of those people I REALLY look up to. To me, Darren taught us to not be afraid of being who we are, and that's what a REAL man is supposed to be. Not because they're "hot" or because of their body. Arguments are invalid.

He seemed to like her but we all make choices we regret or that do not work out.My OPINION is that she USED him as he was the bigger of the two in Hollywood and she KNEW people would flock to read about Jensens bedroom habits(people,we are a sexually obsessed Western world) and her NAME would get out.
