В Остине в Техасе умер джазовый пианист Пайнтоп Перкинс (настоящее имя - Джозеф Уильям Перкинс), сообщает BBC News. Музыканту было 97 лет.

Перкинс начал музыкальную карьеру как гитарист в 20-х годах прошлого века. Однако позже исполнитель получил травму руки и вынужден был переквалифицироваться в пианиста. В разные годы Пайнтоп Перкинс выступал с Айком Тернером и Мадди Уотерсом.

Перкинс трижды становился лауреатом премии "Грэмми". Впервые он получил эту награду в 2005 году за вклад в развитие музыки. Кроме того, в 2008 и 2011 годах ему вручали "Грэмми" в номинации "Лучший традиционный блюзовый альбом". Американская академия звукозаписи отметила пластинки Перкинса "Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live In Dallas" (2007) и "Joined At the Hip" (2010).

Mississippi-born Pinetop Perkins began touring in the 1920s

Grammy award winning blues pianist Pinetop Perkins has died at the age of 97, his manager has announced.

Perkins, who died at his home in Austin, Texas, became the oldest-ever Grammy winner only last month winning for best traditional blues album.

His agent Hugh Southard said he died of cardiac arrest after waking up with chest pains on Monday.

In a career spanning eight decades, Perkins toured with Ike Turner in the 1950s and later with Muddy Waters.

Perkins also won Grammy awards for Lifetime Achievement in 2005 and for Best Traditional Blues Album in 2007.

Despite his age, he played regularly at blues clubs in the Austin area. His agent told the Associated Press news agency he had more than 20 performances booked this year.

"He is the blues, he is the epitome of it," Mr Southard said. "He lived it, breathed it."

Once asked about his longevity, Perkins said: "I always try to do something different all the time."

Another blues legend, BB King, said: "He was one of the last great Mississippi Bluesmen, and he sure could play the piano. He will be missed not only by me, but by lovers of music all over the world."

His agent said that his tastes were simple.

"Two cheeseburgers, apple pie, a cigarette and a pretty girl was all he wanted," Mr Southard said.

Парадокс Абили́на (англ. Abilene paradox) - заключается в том, что группа людей может принять решение, противоречащее возможному выбору любого из членов группы из-за того, что каждый индивидуум считает, что его цели противоречат целям группы, а потому не возражает.

Парадокс был описан Джерри Харви (англ.) в статье The Abilene Paradox and other Meditations on Management[1]. Имя парадоксу дано по мотивам анекдота, описанного в этой статье: В один жаркий техасский вечер некая семья играла в домино на крыльце до тех пор, пока тесть не предложил съездить в Абилин (Техас) (располагающийся в 85ти километрах севернее) отобедать. Жена сказала: «Звучит неплохо». Муж, несмотря на то, что поездка обещала быть долгой и жаркой, подумал, что надо бы подстроиться под других, и произнёс: «По-моему, неплохо; надеюсь, что и твоя мать не откажется». Тёща же ответила: «Конечно, поехали! Я не была в Абилине уже давно».

Дорога была жаркой, пыльной и долгой. Когда же они наконец приехали в кафетерий, еда оказалась невкусной. Спустя четыре часа они, измученные, вернулись домой.

Один из них произнёс неискренне: «Верно, неплохая была поездка?». Тёща на это сказала, что, на самом деле, она бы лучше осталась бы дома, но поехала, раз уж остальные трое были полны энтузиазма. Муж сказал: «Я был бы рад не делать сделанного, поехал лишь чтобы доставить остальным удовольствие». Жена произнесла: «А я поехала, рассчитывая на радость остальных. Он легко объясняется различными социологическими науками, подтверждающими, что человек редко совершает поступки, противоречащие поступкам его группы. Социальные сдерживающие факторы часто подавляют проявление истинных чувств и реализацию желаний отдельного индивидуума.

Парадокс Абилина широко применим к принятию управленческих и маркетинговых[2] решений, в тимбилдинге известен как «Обманчивый успех единодушного принятия решения в команде».

Pop beauty JESSICA SIMPSON is still bitter about being ditched by country singer LeANNE RIMES' ex-boyfriend JENSEN ACKLES.

The star revealed yesterday (14JUL04) in an episode of her MTV reality show NEWLYWEDS: NICK AND JESSICA she had her heart broken by an "actor on DAYS OF OUR LIVES" who was "dating LeAnne Rimes at the time he professed his love to her" in 1998 - when she was just 18-years-old.

Simpson has recently landed a role in the third X-MEN movie, just weeks after bagging a part in THE DUKES OF HAZZARD.
